FOUNDER

Jongkor Mayol is the Founder of CCSS. He continually advocates for the rights, liberties and justice of the people of South Sudan. He uses education as a powerful tool to spread Truth and inspire Progress.

Mayol spent his early childhood in Aweil, South Sudan, until his village was attacked and his mother killed. Post these traumatic events, the young Jongkor battled his way north to live with an uncle. He received a formal education in Khartoum. Mayol applied for refugee status with his then wife and young children and was granted the opportunity to relocate to the United States.

While in the U.S., Mayol served as President of the Sudanese Community Association in Salt Lake City, Utah, from 2005 to 2008. He attended the University of Utah, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, completed a comprehensive field study to Washington, D.C. through the Hinckley Institute with a focus on domestic and foreign policy, and served as an interpreter in association with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) to aid a vast number of refugees in their successful transition to America.

Fluent in English, Dinka and Arabic, Mayol values clear communication and precise knowledge of the truth. Mayol has been featured in numerous news articles concerning his understanding of current events in North and South Sudan, the socio-emotional effects of human rights violations on children and his generation, and South Sudan's immense economic potential. Mayol published a narrative non-fiction based on his life growing up in Sudan titled, "JONGKOR: Displaced Child Has a Dream" (2015).

Jongkor Mayol continues to dedicate his life, time, talents, education and resources toward the development of South Sudan. His heart is with the people there. They have suffered long enough and it is time for change.
