CONCERNED CITIZENS of SOUTH SUDAN

CCSS stands for Concerned Citizens of South Sudan.
We advocate for the LIBERTY, JUSTICE, and PROSPERITY of the citizens of South Sudan.

CORE VALUES

-     Liberty, Justice & Prosperity
-     Government transparency
-     Freedom of expression without intimidation
-     Structural & economic development

After seceding from the North and gaining independence in 2011, South Sudan had big plans for change. These plans included clean water, new roads, improved hospitals, increased access to education, freedom of expression without intimidation, a secure government that would support the people, protect justice and liberty, build the economy, and promote prosperity throughout the land.

Unfortunately NONE of this came to pass. Why? Because the leadership in office has not lived up to the values of the referendum. The current government in South Sudan is failing its people.

We need to restore the dream of prosperity to the land. To accomplish this, we need a government that offers security and stability. Through logical steps and open communication between tribes, we can unify and develop a government and nation that will be a blessing to ALL.

PROPOSED PLAN OF ACTION

-       Eliminate tribal divisions. We are all one South Sudan. It is time to build our country Together.

-       Redistrict for constituency based on population so that we can have accurate representation in parliament. Many areas of South Sudan are rural. Everyone deserves fair representation.

-       Draft a new Constitution that will guarantee the fundamental rights of the people including: freedom of expression, freedom of movement, freedom of assembly. . . We also need to separate the three branches of government: the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial.

-       After the new Constitution has been drafted, it should be put up for referendum so that the citizens can approve it.

-       Voting must be anonymous. (This has been an issue with our current government.)

-       After approval of the new Constitution, and with the districts divided by population, we will then be ready to hold parliamentary elections.

-       After parliamentary elections, we can hold a presidential election. The people of South Sudan deserve to be able to choose who they want as their President.

-       The military must be independent of all tribe divisions. Its role is to protect the integrity of the country. Separate law enforcement must be established and maintained to foster order within.

-       South Sudan must develop a Marshall or Master Plan to address funding of institutions, info-structure, key buildings and resources (roads, hospitals, schools, etc.). For investors to take serious interest in South Sudan, we need this solid plan of action & collateral (which we have in oil). With a clear Master Plan, we may qualify for necessary funding via World Bank/the International Monetary Fund.

-       Of most importance is security. Developing and maintaining loyal alliances and military cooperation with key countries is critical to our long-term survival.

-       Create plan for human development. Education is the lifeblood of a strong, sustainable country.
